There was a couple that also danced nicely.
The woman had white dress with black ribbon around here hips.
It seems that here name is Carla Tores and Tariqo Lai if I had heard good.
They enter the podium at 1:10 of the video.

I liked both couples on the last song (Patetico). I find it a bit of a pity that ganchos are not allowed in the 'Tango de Salon' category.

I'm biased, but I think they got the winners right.

They're not too bad. I think they could have a future in tango.

From what I can tell, they skipped the preliminary rounds because they were the US champions, and went straight to the semis. They did not make the cut for the final round.

Here's their semifinal round (they're two couples away from the eventual champions, so you can compare and contrast):

This is the "and the winner is..." video.
The results are announced in reverse order. Go to 8:00 for the champion.
Looks like it came as a surprise for him.

If you're connected with your partner well, the audience will see that. If you're connected with the audience well, your partner will see that.

Magdalena & German are the champs, how was the competition? Here are some of the dancers.

    Finals round 1:
Some have said that the dancers of the salon style (tango de pista) in the Mundial dance an artificial style unseen in the milongas, because they are "dancing for the judges." I see this style of dancing frequently in the milongas and I've seen some of the competitors at the Mundial dancing in the milongas. For example among the dancers in the 1st round of the finals, #124 Florencia Borgnia (gold dress) and Marcos Pereira are introduced at about the :50 time mark. I have frequently seen them dance in the milongas here in New York City and I've also seen them dance in performance. Their dancing at the Mundial is the same as the way they dance in the milonga. They dance among the finalists to Carlos DiSarli "Indio Manso", Ricardo Tanturi "Malvón", and Juan D'Arienzo "El Flete"

    Finals round 4:
#358 Magdalena & German are among the dancers in round 4. Maxi Copello #70 is another dancer I've seen dance occasionally in the milongas and in performance, he and his partner Ramona are introduced at the beginning. At about time stamp 1:23 #215 Marcelo Gutiérrez 'El Chino' and his partner are introduced, I've frequently seen him dance in the milongas and in performance and both Maxi & El Chino are dancing in much the same way as they dance in the milongas. They dance to Disarli "A La Gran Muñeca", Ricardo Tanturi & Alberto Castillo - "Bailongo de los domingos", D'arienzo "El Recelo."
