As much as possible, frankly. Some ads are unbelievably vague.
Condition/age and/or times worn; maker, if known; type and approx # of stones or other deco; materials; built-in undergarments; and lots and lots of measurements, including whether there is any stretch.

and GOOD photos! Many gowns look so different on a dress dummy vs. a real person as well.

Would like to add that, for whatever reason, now seems a good time to sell a dress. Take those pictures and put it up! I've had several gowns that I've been patiently holding onto sell quickly over the past week.

On behalf of myself and my long-torsoed sistren, I would love to see more gown ads include a girth measurement whenever a dress has a bodysuit. Dresses that fit my height in theory are often uncomfortable in reality because the girth is too short.

heck, I had one gown that I was excruciatingly short in the torso. Crotch extender wouldn't have helped. I just cut off the panty part of the inner bodysuit. I guess you could say it's a crotchless ballgown now

í will be selling a latin dress (the one I am wearing in my avatar) soon so all these tips are nice LOL.... I just need to get the dress professionally cleaned so it will be good as new!!

I have never really sold a dress before (my friend fell in love with my last dress so it was kind of a given that I would sell it to her)... I am excited LOL!!

How long does it usually take for a dress to sell if you go "put it on consignment with the designer who made it" route?

Before you give it back to the designer look at all of your options.
I bought a latin from Randall and decided after one wear that I had made a mistake in my choice..... They woud take it back and thier cut would be 60% mine 40%. Needless to say that $2,600. latin still hangs in my closet. That was a valuable lesson never to buy on a whim....
